"This beginner-friendly cowl pattern makes colorwork simple. Using just one stitch and self-striping yarns, you can create a stunning cowl with many colors without complex colorwork. This project is easy and quick to make, and for the more advanced crocheter it’s the type of “mindless” project that you can work on while waiting for an appointment, watching streaming shows, or even hanging out with family and friends. Crochet HookK/10.5 or 6.5 mm hook

Yarn Weight(5) Bulky/Chunky (12-15 stitches for 4 inches)

Crochet Gauge14 sc = 4” (10 cm). Exact gauge is not critical for this pattern.

Finished SizeTeen/Adult Small: 46” (117 cm) circumference x 4.5” (11.5 cm) height after seaming. Adult Large: 52” (132 cm) circumference x 6 (15 cm) height after seaming.

Materials List

  • King Cole Riot Chunky yarn (30% wool/70% acrylic, 3.5 oz/100 g, 147 yd/134 m) – 1 (2) skeins each in 3437 Juniper Berry (CA) and 651 Domino (CB), or approximately 147 yd (220 yd)/134 m (201 m) in each of 2 colors in any self-striping, bulky weight, wool/acrylic blend yarn.
  • US Size K-10.5/6.5 mm crochet hook, or size needed to obtain gauge.
  • Bent-tip yarn needle.
