How to Crochet a Treble Stitch
This tutorial shows many images that will help you learn how to crochet a treble stitch. You'll have so many more crochet patterns that you'll be able to work up after you learn the treble stitch. Use this tutorial, practice it on a pattern, and then show others how to do this stitch. You'll look like a professional crocheter when you teach others!
Steps:
- To start to make a row of treble crochet, first chain 3.
- Yarn over the hook 2 times. (3 loops on the hook.)
- Insert the hook into the next stitch.
- Hook onto the yarn.
- Pull through the stitch. (4 loops on the hook.)
- Hook onto the yarn.
- Pull through 2 loops. (3 loops remaining on the hook.)
- Hook onto the yarn.
- Pull through 2 loops. (2 loops remaining on the hook.
- Hook onto the yarn.
- Pull through the last 2 loops on the hook (1 loop remaining on the hook.) Repeat steps from 2 to 11 for each treble crochet.
- At the end of the row of treble crochet, chain 3.
- Turn the work to begin working on the next row.
NOTE: Always insert the hook into the second stitch of the row, as the chain 3 is equivalent to the first treble crochet of the row. Photo 14.

mistyhicks 5153275, a double treble is worked by wrapping 3 times before inserting hook into stitch, and a triple treble is worked by wrapping 4 times before inserting hook into stitch. The loops are worked off the hook by twos just as they are in the treble. HTH
