Easy Go Green Cup Cozy
The Easy Go Green Cup Cozy is environmentally friendly and it makes your cup look so chic. This cup cozy is great for beginners. The tutorial is very easy and it can be made in only four steps! Can you imagine a simpler project that turns out so beautifully? This cozy fits most takeout cups and will keep your hands toasty yet not burnt from your hot beverage.
Materials:
- Knitting worsted yarn
- Crochet Hook, size 5.5mm (US I-9)
- Buttons
- Yarn needle
Steps:
- Chain 11, single crochet in the 2nd stitch from the hook, and in each stitch of the chain.
- Chain 1 and turn, single crochet in each stitch across the row, working in the back side of the stitch only. (Working in the back side of the stitch means: in crochet, every stitch, when viewed from the top, has two sides. Insert the hook through the back side of the stitch only. This produces a ribbing stitch.)
- Repeat row 2 until the rectangle measures 8 inches. Bring the first row completed, and the last row completed together, and slip stitch closed to form a tube.
- Sew buttons of your choice to the cup cozy. Weave all the yarn ends into the finished work.

I dont think I would usually call a cup cozy dainty, but this one is definitely more feminine than most projects Ive seen. I love the addition of fancy buttons! It does add a bit of elegance to what is usually a fairly utilitarian item. You might want to raid the costume jewelry section of the thrift store and see what else you might find.

Much also perfect as mat.. anyway any type of yarn will work right, I am thinking now to combine use cardboard with this. Nowadays, we need to be creative, proper waste management system and use recyclable materials would make life so easy.

This is a simple but cute way to decorate a travel mug and makes a great gift idea, especially paired with a ceramic travel mug and tea/coffee for a loved one! :) I had fun making this.

A year ago Three Rivers Crochet (in Pittsburgh, a CGOA Chapter) hosted a fundraiser at the suggestion of one of our members who was about to celebrate her 50th anniversary. She asked us to make coffee cup cozies, of the style shown in this pattern, that she would purchase to use as gifts for the men attending her 50th anniversary celebration (she already had crocheted pins for the women). She donated the purchase cost to TRC for our charities: Rwanda Knits and local VA programs. We had great fun trying out patterns in crochet and knit! I also make cozies with bottoms from plarn to use with soft drink or beer cans. They work really well and keep your hand from getting cold and/or wet.

Would anyone have a pattern for mittens in this style of crochet. My Mom made them for her children and gandchildren and I have been looking for the pattern. This was quite a few years back.

I am trying this right now! :) I am using handicrafter cotton, adding a few chains for a deeper grip, (because my husband has bigger hands and always orders 24 ouncers, lol) and am planning to make a spiral bottom if it needs it. Thanks for the clever ideas!

This is a cute cozy. I prefer one that I made which has a bottom on it and is made of cotton handicrafter yarn. It does not stretch and slip on the cup. It will fit medium and large cups and x-large.
