Dakota Shrug

By: Bailey Williams from

Dakota Shrug

"A few years back I crochet a sample stitch piece that I never used for any projects, but for some reason it went VIRAL. I received so many messages from people asking me for the pattern to this stitch, where they could find it, and so on. The problem was I never could find the perfect pattern to use this stitch in. Well, here we are. Years have passed and I am FINALLY using the famous “Yarnspirations shared this stitch” stitch and am so excited to be sharing it with you all. I have the oversized Dakota shrug for you all today!"

I really like this dakota shrug because of the wide ribbing around the garment. The directions for the ribbing is a little confusing and with only three rows I have no idea how this wide ribbing will be created. There is a stitch for HDC BLO. I understand the HDC but what is BLO?

I think that this Dakota shrug is really attractive. By using the Bernat yarn you can get this colorful creation without having to change yarn colors. I am still in awe that the shrug is just a rectangle joined to form sleeves. I like the added ribbing on the edge of this shrug.

I personally am not big on shrugs but my best friend loves them. She will love this shrug. The directions looks easy to follow and it should crochet up fast. I will do the main part in one color and the trim in another. Thank you for the pattern.

This girl is in love with the new Dakota shrug. I must make this one for a good friend of mine. I can picture her wearing this while she is teaching at high school. Does it say how many Bernat Color Pops needed to make the shrug? Walmart sells this yarn on the cheap. Thank you for adding this new pattern to your online collection!
