Crochet Lilac Frosting Scarf

Crochet Lilac Frosting Scarf

"I found this super fun yarn at Michael’s the other day. It’s Caron® Cakes™, a multi-purpose variegated yarn that comes in 18 shades each of which contains 5 beautiful colors. I picked up two shades: Cherry Chip and Lilac Frosting. My grand daughter wants a hat and scarf made with the Cherry Chip yarn. I went for the grit stitch scarf. The Crochet Lilac Frosting Scarf (free crochet pattern) is slightly textured and is great for cool weather. The pattern stitch–the grit stitch–creates a dense yet light weight fabric with a slight diagonal pattern. It’s perfect for the mild winters in Central Florida."

Personal opinion only, there should be more of the lilac color in this lilac frosting yarn! You can't go wrong with Caron Cakes- they are the perfect choice for scarves and throw blankets. I made a throw for my sister and her fiance for Christmas using the Red Velvet colorway and the striping came out to about 2.5" wide. It was beautiful!

Perfect for ladies who are into lighter and subdued colors for their accessories. This Crochet Lilac Frosting Scarf is perfect for a dark top. Also a nice gift for mom, aunt or cousin.

This is a wonderfully easy scarf to work up. The Grit Stitch is so simple and repetitive that my biggest problem working it is remembering to only work a Single Crochet at the end of each row. I tend to get a little distracted by other things when Im crocheting so its not unusual to have to pull out a few stitches. Im not a huge fan of fringe, but if I were to use it on this scarf, Id double it up so it didnt look so skimpy.

Caron Cakes yarn has been around a couple of years now and they have expanded the original line to include many more colors. I have found that Sweet Rolls yarn is the equivalent to Caron Cakes and it is actually a little bit cheaper. They too have expanded their original line of colors to add some holiday colors. If you use one of these variegated yarns, then this project only takes one skein. Its never really scarf season here in South Florida, but when we go North I will definitely need one.
