From Heart To Hexagon Hotpad

"This is the second pattern to my hexagon series, From Heart to Hexagon Crochet Hotpad, because I love hexagons. Hot pads are especially useful to protect your surfaces from heat damage from your hot pots, while adding some cuteness to the table. This hot pad is made with durable cotton, and features a granny style heart in the center, evened-out to become the mighty hexagon. Your just a few granny stitches away from making one for your sweetie for Valentine’s."

These hexagon hearts have an antique-y feel to them, like pioneer Gramma's old quilt or something. You can definitely take this idea and run with it, as far as expanding on the theme throughout the house. I think they are super for an advanced beginner's project because it will have you honing your skills with the shaping aspects of crochet.

Wow. What lovely hotpads. This heart hotpads will give my kitchen warmth and life, and inspire me or whoever is in the kitchen to cook dishes with a lot of love. Can't wait to make these gorgeous pieces!

I love the idea of embedding the heart directly into the hexagon. In addition to kitchen items, this motif would make a wonderful pieced afghan or throw. It would be fun to mix and match the hearts and backgrounds from different bright colors, and then stitch them together using a solid colored yarn. I know at least one of the granddaughters who would love this!
