Until I read the pattern I was really interested in know how the brim of the hat would stand out the way that it does. I assumed initially that the item was stiffened with starch but I am really intrigued of the use of wire or weed eater line. What a genius idea.

What a wonderful mother/daughter pattern. I love this wide brimmed crochet hat and I plan on making it for myself. Unfortunately, I did not have daughters of my own but I know just the fashion forward young lady that would appreciate this.

We get a floppy sun hat (wide brim, WITH wire) for the little girls! I enjoy seeing all the different ways we can style this hat because of the wire. Fix it to suit your personal needs. Now your little girl can have a wide brimmed sun hat just like Mommy!

would love to try this pattern but alas, whatever I click brings me garbage, no pattern...

Hi lorrainebradford, I just tested the "Click here for crochet pattern" link and was taken to the designer's page with no problem. :) The link is right above the green "Easy" bar. Once you get to the blogger's site, just scroll down past all the photos and you'll get to the pattern. Thanks! Julia, editor for AllFreeCrochet

the link did not work for me. Is there another way to find this pattern?

It's okay, this is only crochet. Don't take it so seriously -)

Super quick work up. I used wire in the edge. I wouldn't recommend it. I'm going to try another with weed whacker string.

I love this hat, and have the perfect yarnCaron One Pound in Peach! Theres now a coordinating multi color yarn that would be great for the open work sections of the hat. I cant wait to get started on this one. And I seem to recall that there is a commercial product (opaque plastic) to enclose inside the hat edging. I think I ran across it when making some wide brimmed witches hats.

This is just too cute for words. And the pattern is very easy. I am going to make this for a friend who is a member of the Red Hat Society. She always finds big wide brim outrageous hats. All I need to do is add a big purple flower to it and she will love it.

What a beautiful hat! I love how airy this hat pattern is. After reading all of the comments, I will go to the craft store and buy a hard plastic brim material. I don't remember what it's called, but used it in the past and it works great to keep the brim of the hat off your face. Just ask a worker and they will direct you to the right item to use. I want to make some for my girls and there girls. Mommy and me hats.. Thank you for this free pattern..

I made this hat last summer in yellow. It is the perfect hat for gardening. It keeps the sun off my face. It works up so quickly!

Have you tried this craft? What did you think?

I will have fun crocheting this hat. I feel it will be a great hat for the summer.
