The pill box hat was made famous by First Lady Jackie Kennedy. She wore them all the time and looked gorgeous in them.i really like the look even though I am not a hat person. This is an easy pattern and I want to try it but not with buttons on it. Maybe a rhinestone pin.

When I was making hats for all my family members last Christmas, I asked everyone to choose from a few select styles. My youngest sister loves hats, but not any of the styles I suggested. While everyone else got slouchies, toques and beanies, I made this retro Pillbox just for her. Really glad I did, because I used that same Robertsons Ridge technique on my own version of a fez, ala Matt Smiths Dr. Who.

What an easy pattern for something so timelessly pretty, feminine and elegant. I can JUST remember my mother going to church with us all in a pillbox hat and if I am not mistaken, some lace, which formed almost a veil over her face. This is a very beautiful item and it works up quite quickly too with the double strands.

Oh yes. The pillbox hat. I would see a lot of this kind of hat worn by celebrities and royalty in years past. This Pretty Pillbox Vintage Hat used was very much in vogue. I think I've seen Jackie Onassis wearing this hat, Princess Diana, some celebrities. Yeah. This was very much in vogue in the 50s and 60s but can still make a fashion statement today.
