NotesThe hat is worked from the brim up; make the foundation chain loosely to allow for stretching.

The beginning chain of each round or row does not count as a stitch.

The end of each round is joined by slip stitching in the first stitch of the round, not the beginning chain.

I was really happy to see an earflap version of this hat pattern. While I appreciate all the different size options, I really do wish there were more photos in this article. Not everyone has the ability to visualize the text that theyre reading. In a way, that could discourage some crafters from even trying to work a project like this. Its not a hard pattern, but a few photos would be encouraging.

Thank you for giving all the sizes...can't wait to make for all.

If you need the brim to be stretchier, why not start the pattern with the fsc instead of a chain?

Oh My I have found my new favorite hat! I just love the look of this Celtic Dream Earflap Crochet Hat. The unique basket weave design is outstanding and will make a nice warm hat to wear in the North winter months. I appreciate that the written pattern is right here on this page and there is a print tab that let me download the pattern to my lap top. Also it's great to see there is a pattern for all sizes. This will be my go to hat this winter. Thank you so much for sharing this free crochet pattern.
