Amish Inspired Crochet Hat

Amish Inspired Crochet Hat

The Amish Inspired Crochet Hat is certainly a stylish one that any man (or woman) will love to wear. Some might even consider it a "hipster" hat. Either way, it's an easy crochet hat pattern to work up that uses Red Heart Super Saver yarn. Amish style hats are becoming more popular these days, so why not crochet your own? The half double crochet stitch is used allowing you to work up the hat quickly. Add a little side embellishment if you're feeling rebellious.

The link to this pattern does work now. The pattern is easy to follow and works up fairly quickly. I made three of these. It is quite cute when finished. Just be sure your yarn is not too soft, otherwise it will not hold its shape well. The Red Heart Super Saver that is recommended in the pattern works well for this because it is coarser and slightly thicker than other #4 weight yarns. Bernat Super Saver and Caron One Pound are also good for this. One thing that threw me at first was the use of sp. I wasnt sure if the designer meant we make the stitch in the next stitch or the next space between stitches. I worked in the stitches, not the spaces. Working in the spaces may make a stronger hat though. Maybe I will make another one and try it that way to see.
