Looking for a pattern for hat and mittens that the whole hat and mittens have that ribbed look like the above crochet mitten's wrist (in picture). I bought them at craft fairs 30 years ago and the fit the kids well and were warm. I did not know how to crochet then. I would like to make them for charity such as head start or shelters with children.

I am upset by all of these 'fingerless gloves' patterns. I really want gloves with fingers. The pattern on a subsequent screen for lace gloves gives me so much advertising plus audio that I can't even see if I could adapt that one. In Arizona, you either need gloves or you don't. We don't even understand who wears fingerless ones.
