Materials

Yarn: Sugar N Cream yarn: 40 grams
Hook: Size H (5.00 mm) Tunisian crochet hook or hook without a handle
Scissors
Darning needle
 

Abbreviations and Notes

ch: chain
st(s): stitch(es)
ea: each
tks: Tunisian knit stitch
tps: Tunisian purl stitch
tss: Tunisian simple stitch

Gauge: 6 rows and 7 stitches = 2 inches

Notes:
-No special hook required! This pattern can be worked with a regular crochet hook that does not have a handle.

-This pattern is worked flat with the right side of the work facing. 

-At the beginning of each row, the first stitch is on the hook and counts as a Tunisian knit stitch.

-Do not turn your work at the beginning of each row. Each row is worked from right to left (forward pass) and then from left to right (return pass).

You may change the size by changing the number of stitches. As long as it is an even number this pattern will work. If you add more stitches, you may need a longer hook.

Please read all of the notes before beginning this pattern.

R1: Forward Pass: ch 28, working into the back humps of ea ch: starting with the 2nd ch from the hook, pick up loops across. =28
Return Pass: yo and pull through 1 loop on the hook, *yo and pull through 2 loops on the hook. Repeat from the * until 1 loop remains on the hook.

Should measure approximately 8” long, flattened but not stretched.

R2: Forward Pass: tks (on the hook), tks across. =28
Return Pass: yo and pull through 1 loop on the hook, *yo and pull through 2 loops on the hook. Repeat from the * until 1 loop remains on the hook.

R3: Repeat R2

Should measure approximately 8” long and 1” tall.

R4: Forward Pass: tks, tks into the next st, *tss into the next st, tps into the next st. Repeat from the * across until 2 sts remain, tks into the last 2 sts. =28
Return Pass: yo and pull through 1 loop on the hook, *yo and pull through 2 loops on the hook. Repeat from the * until 1 loop remains on the hook.

R5: Forward Pass: tks, tks into the next st, *tps into the next st, tss into the next st. Repeat from the * until 2 sts remain, tks into the last 2 sts. =28
Return Pass: yo and pull through 1 loop on the hook, *yo and pull through 2 loops on the hook. Repeat from the * until 1 loop remains on the hook.

R6-R23: Repeat R4 and R5

Should measure approximately 7.5” tall. If yours does not, keep repeating until it does.

R24: Repeat R2

Bind Off

R25: Insert the hook into the next stitch (like for a tks), yarn over and pull through all the loops on the hook to make a slip stitch. Continue across.
