Dragonfly Bandana Cowl

The triangular shape, brilliant stripes, and dragonfly-shaped spaces make this Dragonfly Bandana Cowl seem too intricate to be an easy crochet pattern, but it is! The bumpy borders give the crochet cowl pattern a beautiful finish, and this would look great tied around your neck on a chilly morning. With three special stitches—the picot, split, and V-stitch—you can create this masterpiece for your very own. It's a perfect one-skein project because of its short size, but you can also expand to a larger shawl if you want. This would look especially nice over a white shirt that would show through the spaces and highlight the dragonfly shapes.

So, so beautiful and pretty simple to make considering the special stitches involved. I say any yarn project that involves Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable yarn is worth your time and effort. This yarn stripes on its own! I guess nowadays it is a pretty common thing, but it still amazes me that a yarn can do the work for you and allow you to work in one piece as you go from color to color, without breaking off and weaving in. The bandana style is a fairly new and on trend shape for women's scarves, too.

I love how colorful and cheery this scarf is. Just the thing on a dreary day when youre waiting for Spring to finally arrive. Best of all, if you use the particular yarn the designer recommends, there arent all the yarn ends to sew in at the end of the project. Ive worked several patterns using the Butterfly motif, so I was very happy to see the designer highlight the Split Stitch. It can be very tricky to find it unless you know what youre looking for.

I made this and it works up beautifully. Am thinking of making another in shawl size.

I see one commenter had an issue accessing the web site for the instructions to this cowl. This issue is resolved as of now as I had no problem getting it to load. I have not started this project as of yet, but the instructions look pretty straight forward just glancing over them. The colors are amazing.

I tried the link to the website a few minutes ago and it says there is an internal error. I really want to try a dragonfly pattern and this is the first I just love. Can the site be fixed please?

his is a beautiful Dragonfly Bandana Cowl pattern. I just love the color of the yarn and after reading the pattern it reads well and brings 1 question to mind Does the skein of Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable do the stripping, or do I need to buy different colors of the Red Heat Boutique? The directions do say "If working stripes, join new color in first stitch". But also that only 1 skein of yarn is needed. So I'm not sure here..?? Either way I would love to make this beautiful cowl in the colors used in the pattern. Thank you for this free pattern.

Hi Cheryl, I think the maybe it refers to one skein, because even if you use different colours the total yardage that you would use amounts to one skein, but there are beautiful multicolour skeins that would work great with this amazing pattern. Hope you can make it soon, I know that it going in my ever growing list of projects.

This beautiful Dragonfly Bandana Cowl is one of you #BestIdeaEver items!
