How to Single Crochet
How to Single Crochet

It can be difficult to learn how to crochet on your own, but we're here to help with the How to Single Crochet Video Tutorial. This tutorial will go through every step of how to do the single crochet stitch. You'll be amazed by what a simple video can teach you, and you'll be thrilled with your success with crochet after you master the basic stitches. You can be a beginner or even someone coming back to crochet that needs to refresh his or her memory.

How to Single Crochet

  1. Insert your hook into center of your next working chain. Grab yarn (known as a yarn over) and draw through the chain stitch and up onto the hook so that you have two loops on your hook.

  2. Using your hook, grab yarn and draw it through both loops on your hook, leaving just one loop on your hook. You've made one single crochet stitch.

  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 as many times as your pattern calls for.

you do a great job, but I needed to know how to turn and to back..

It's amazing how much easier it is to learn crochet when watching a video vs words. Thanks!

A great video tutorial for a beginner crocheter or for someone that wants to learn to crochet. This is so well done that those that are still on the fence about learning to crochet should definitely want to pursue it now. It is explained so well and the video is clear and easy to see the steps.

Hi Lanier, That stitch is actually on our list of videos to film in the studio! We have a left-handed version so far, if that helps: Julia, editor for AllFreeCrochet

I'm just going to file this away as MUCH NEEDED. After trying to learn how to crochet, I just can't quite get it down. My tension is all off. I'll be using this to get through the beginning bits. Thanks!
