How to Add Embellishments to a Crochet Project Using a Button

How to Embellish Your Crochet Project

  1. Decide where on your work you would like to place your embellishment.

  2. Grab a button, scissors, a tapestry needle, and some extra yarn, draw your yarn through from the back of your work using your needle.

Tip: Leave a long tail to make it easier to secure yoru embellishment.

  3. Thread through your embellishment, and pull that all the way through until your embellishment is on your piece.

Pro Tip: "If you want it to be extra secure instead of going through the center you can go slightly to the side of it to make it extra secure" - Heidi Gustad

  4. Thread your needle through the back of the button and pull through, then draw your yarn back through the button, the embellishment and the project making sure to pull tight.

  5. Repeat that a couple of times going through all the holes of the button.

  6. Cut your yarn and secure it with a knot before you weave in your ends.
