How to Crochet the Moss Stitch:

Chain an even number of chains, as many as you want or that your pattern calls for.

Row 1: Sc into 4th chain from your hook, *ch 1, sk 1, sc into the next stitch; repeat across row.

Row 2: Turn, ch 2. Sc into the next chain space (where we chained 1 in the previous row), ch 1, *sc in next chain space, ch 1; repeat across the row ending with a sc in the very last longer chain

Row 3: Ch 2, turn. *Sc in next chain sp, ch 1; repeat across the row, ending with a sc in turn chain from previous row

Repeat row 3 until your work is the length you want.

I had never heard of a moss stitch. But after watching this video tutorial, I must say it's going to make a great pattern for the next purse I make. It's a nice solid pattern that I can line easily too. Thank you for teaching this old dog a new trick.
