This Easiest Crochet Baby Beanie project is the perfect crochet baby pattern that you can make in just 30 minutes. All you need is to pick the Red Heart Medley color you want to make this DIY baby beanie and follow along with the pattern. Plus, this printable crochet pattern is super repetitive, so you will have the pattern down in no time. This DIY beanie is going to look so adorable on that special little one.

Crochet HookH/8 or 5 mm hook

Yarn Weight(3) Light/DK (21-24 stitches to 4 inches)

  • Crochet hook
  • Yarn

Easiest Crochet Baby Beanie

Crochet Baby Beanie Pattern

  1. Start with your slip knot.

  2. Ch 4.

  3. Sl st in the fourth chain from the hook. 

  4. Ch 3. 

  5. Dc into that loop you created from your sl st. Repeat that 9 more times. 

  6. Pull the tail end of your yarn in the project to close up that hole a little bit for your baby beanie. 

  7. Dc in the top of the ch 3 that you did in the previous row. 

  8. (2) dc in the next stitch. 

  9. Dc in the next stitch. 

  10. Repeat steps 8-9 all the way around for 4 rows. 

  11. After the 4th row, dc through all the stitches for the following number of rows you do.


    Pro Tip: "I do about 6 or 7 [rows] because I don't like baby beanies to be too long. I like them to cover their ears and not be constricting" - Chris Hammond

  12. Cut your yarn and pull the tail through. 

  13. Weave in the ends and trim off the excess tail.

You should mention to use a stitch marker so that you know where you started the row, also, you don't give a total of rows for the cap. You mentions that you do 6 or 7 rows, is that total rows for the whole hat? or is it 6 or 7 rows of SC...?
