This is one of those patterns that are so obvious Im surprised I havent run across it before. I really like the idea of having each snowflake a different color because it would make identifying your beverage a lot easier. When your can or glass is sitting on the coaster, just the icy edges would be readily visible. Theres a free download at the bottom of the page, too.

Hands down, my favorite thing to do with my crochet during the holidays is to make all kinds of home accent pieces. For instance, table runners, centerpieces, coasters, placemats, pillow covers, and afghans! It gives such a homey look to my place. And I enjoy knowing that I did THAT all by myself. These snowflake coasters are no exception. If you scroll down to comments, click on the link (the left arrow) provided on the page, you can access the first part of the pattern, if you are looking around for that- since the pattern gets you started on the picot stitches. Just trying to clear up that confusion for anyone else.
