Mindless Crochet Scrapghan
Bust through your yarn stash with this Mindless Crochet Scrapghan pattern. The repetitive nature of this particular crochet afghan pattern makes it the perfect project to work on as you sit and catch up on your favorite TV program. You'll need 4-5 skeins of worsted weight yarn in a single color to complete the pattern, plus a lot of scrap yarn in various colors too add some contrast. Fringe is an optional finishing touch.

Wow what a beautiful different pattern this one is! I love the idea of using up my scrap yarn with a main color to make this Mindless Crochet Scrapghan that looks like it was done on a weaving loom. The pattern is well written and so easy to understand and follow. I'm looking forward to making this one and later another to use up my yarn to make a warm afghan. What a wonderful pattern! It looks sowoven, and colorful! I like this idea and all of the different colors pulled together into one piece. This definitely would make great use to all of those scrap yarn pieces that are left from other projects that I have been saving. This really caught my eye. My plan is to use black in place of the neon green, for a stained-glass effect.

This is the perfect afghan to crochet in the colder weather. The pattern becomes repetitive so you can watch tv while working on it and it will keep you warm at the same time. I made a blanket using left over yarn last year and it did keep me warm crocheting it up. And now its on my bed as an extra blanket. And this will be the same thing. I always have so much yarn since I can't resist a sale. Thanks for the pattern.

This afghan reminds me of one of my favorite woven rugs. The designer has provided a nicely written pattern, but the point at which you need to work a Triple Crochet BEHIND the next Chain would probably benefit having a photo or two. I absolutely LOVE her idea of leaving starting and finishing yarn ends alone to form the fringe. Brilliant!

This is a pattern for me. I love to crochet in the evenings and on the weekend while watching TV so I really need to work something that allows me to focus on both at the same time. The repetitive pattern of this scrapghan does this plus helps you use up all those extra yarns.

What a wonderful pattern! It's soooo great to be able to create a unique, one-of-a-kind afghan. I stumbled across a huge bag of yarn at a charity shop and it was so inexpensive that I didn't dare to pass it up. Now I know where it's going. Thank you for the pattern!

I have always been reluctant to purchase those skeins of yarn at yard sales or goodwill stores because I never thought I could use them. When I see projects like these I now know I can use those inexpensive skeins to make a one of a kind creation. Thank you for the inspiration.

The scrapghan looks almost like it is woven when using the stitch the designer made. I dont however like that you have to clip the yarn on every row and leave a tail that will have to be sewed in at the end of this project. That will be a very time consuming task after spending some much time making the actual blanket.

I personally don't go for projects with a lot of color changes. The look is crazy cute, though. I don't know if I'd have the patience to attempt this right now.However, it is made up of basic stitches... I do like the inspiration behind the making of the "Mindless Crochet Scrapghan".

I enjoyed reading the story behind the making of this crochet scrapghan which was a daughter's request to her mother to make her a blanket whose main color is green. Whenever I see the title scrapghan patterns, I think I can use my leftovers. All these seem to be colour co-ordinated. The scarps I have may just finish with one or two repeats and will not give the effect of this scrapghan. I agree with bobbylonardo's comments.

The scraps are just meant to be used for the multicolored portions, not for the main crochet pattern. If you have more varied colors, maybe try using a lighter neutral for the main body of the afghan so that the multicolored scraps really pop! :) Hope that helps! -Julia, editor for AllFreeCrochet

I love this and have a ton of yarn. Only problem is I have brain fog intermittantly pretty bad and I can figuer out the pattern. Any chance you could do a tutorial. I know this is easy, but for the aged easy is not what it used to mean. Haha. Thanks
