This square tutorial includes a link to a YouTube video that helps with a visual on how to create your own square like this. The colors used are awesome and the black yarn highlights them and really makes them pop. If using the supplies as shown this pattern will produce a six inch square.

Wow beautiful. Granny squares are very easy to make but such a pain having to sew them all together so I dont usually go the route of the granny square. This church window square looks like a stained glass window that you find in a lot of churches. I love it and might just have to make something with this.

This one takes a little bit longer to make because it is made in four parts before it is put together and the border added, but it is worth it. It has a nice stained glass effect if you use the right yarn colours. I think it may be nice in an afghan using a variety of colours as well. Has anyone tried doing that yet? The picture of my square was taken before it was blocked.

The pattern link will not open for me, & I see others are having the same problem. Too bad as it would have been a great summer project to work on & carry with you where ever you went. :(

Hi, We just checked the link and it worked just fine on our end. Perhaps check and see if there are any software updates available for your browser (or try a different browser), and restart your computer. I hope this helps, -editors of AllFreeCrochet

I am just finishing the 4 square by 6 square baby afghan I am making with this pattern. I worked my way through and was able to understand and follow the pattern I used the corrected version. I really like it. It is very pretty. Lena

I LOVE this pattern! I was just relearning (as my mother taught me a few simple stitches years ago) and found this and the video, I had so much fun, I'm addicted to crochet all over again! <3

Im trying to send this pattern to my usb fob to dowl load it and cant what good is it to me ... Red Heart is able to so... why cant your Company ?

I can't get the pattern link to open.

the link for this pattern does not work!!

Im not sure if im missing something in the pattern or not but in the picture it shows the bikini colors in the outer three corners of the mini squares but after making it mine didnt have anything in those spots. Am I missing a step in the pattern or something?

She has a Youtube tutorial.

Started this over the weekend using 'Monet' rather than 'Bikini' and love it - very fond of blues and purples anyway. Will be absolutely stunning when stitched into a afghan.

The link to the pattern no longer works. I would like to try this but no pattern!

Thank you for fixing the link!! I really want to try this pattern!

I like the contrast between the black and the vibrant colors. It makes me think of the old Amish quilts.

I love the bright colors which pop with the black outline.

Absolutely my favorite! I love the colors, the contrast. This is really a stunner for me.

I am drawn to the bright colors and the contrast of the black which gives this pattern its name of Framed Church Window like the stain glass windows you see in many churches. Regarding the Pattern Showdown I am drawn to this pattern much more than the pale pastels of the Beautiful Rose Twist which is the other pattern featured. I like the other pattern but would use a deeper rose color to contrast the pastel pink or use a varigated rose yarn. I just prefer more contrast.

I always go for the bright colors. I also like the look of stained glass.

I just love the Framed Church Window. It bursts color and so vibrant no wonder it's my favorite ...Thank you for the patterns. I'm going to love making a blanket with these colors.

Framed Church Windows is my favorite (& not because my husband is a Pastor!) The colors and design are what jumped out at me. Plus, it's not a pattern that gets boring! I like to have different stitches in patterns to keep me on my toes! :>)

I love this it reminds me of projects my mother and aunt used to make. Very pretty

Gotta say this is my favorite. I love bright colors!!

this is the one that catches the eye! the rose design is one i would make for my mother and this one is for me!! the bold colors 'speak' to something inside me!!

This is the one. So vibrant and pretty to look at. Kinda uplifting for a down time.

I like the framed church window best because of the colors and design. I can definitely see that in my family room.

I prefer this one. I can imagine this one draped over my sofa. Yes, definitely. I think this is the nicer of the two. :)

I love both of them, but, I will have to go with this one. It is so beautiful.

Wow, this is very striking! I vote for this one.

I think out of the two this would be my favorite because it is portable and an unusual pattern. I like trying different patterns.

I love the rainbow colors contrasted with the blackmy favorite.

It is hard to pick a favorite.... your patterns are always so beautiful. I decided on the church window since it is so different. Thank you for allowing my input.

While bvoth Afghans are very nice, the Stained Glass Church Window is my favorite. Why? The colors are devinely standout, (which everyone seems to say) but also the PATTERN is not only unusual, but rather unique. Just like me!

I love the Stained glass effect of the Framed church window pattern is bright, and cheery, and colorful! I prefer this pattern over the other.

The Framed church Window is my favorie, the colors speak to me.

I love all of the detail and color in this block!!

I LOVE this pattern. It is my FAV! I've made this many times in our Square Exchange with my Crochet group!

LOVE the colors!

this a beautiful pattern

definitely this one.

Love this, it was very easy

I think this one is fantastic, very different, and would love to make it.

I think that this afghan is much more attractive than the white and pink, but I have always been a fan of the brighter colors and high contrast. XD

I've been crocheting for less than a year but Granny Squares are so do-able that I would love to give this one a try. Beautiful. I love the look of this one.

imo, this stained glass church window afghan is the better of the 2 because of the colors, using all the orphan yarn into something useful and colorful is a plus, i had regained my eyesight past April and the promise to myself is,be colorful.

It's already been said...beautiful. I love the stark contrast between the vibrant "bikini" yarn colours & the black "windows". M <>< .

I LOVE THE STAINED GLASS AFGHAN. The colours stand out and it really looks like a stained glass window. Beautiful.

The church window afghan is much prettier. The black really highlights the bright colours as if the sun was shining through. Verry pretty!

I really like the 'church windows', much better than the pink and white afghan. First, it gives one an oppertunity use up left over yarns and small amounts. And second this type of afghan almost everyone likes, with all it's colors it can be used anywhere.

Absolutly beautiful.. The more color, the better.. I am going to make this one... thank you for sharing julie

This is my favorite-hands down! I'm a pushover for color and scrap patterns, and this one pushes all the right buttons! Truly Scrapalicious!!

I love this pattern because of the beautiful colors against the black and the uniqueness of the pattern.

I guess I would go for this one, Framed Church windows because of the bright colors. When I clicked on the other pattern, I could see it had color but not as bright.

This one is my favorite, hands down! Not only do I love the bright colors (they actually look like a stained glass window), but I think working with these colors would be more interesting than a two-color pattern. And the pattern itself looks more interesting.

These bright colors are absolutely awesome ! I love it !

very very pretty and would match any color

@BJCKidsX4crochet, We just tested the link on our end, and it seems to be working fine. Would love to take a look at this pattern, but when I click on "Click here for crochet pattern", it takes me to a web site that requires (from what I can tell) you to first, make a web page, then sign up for some trunk something or other website. Then after I did all that, I came back here to re-click on the patter link, and got a lovely pop-up stating "Authentication Required: The server requires a username and password. The server says: Private Zone" I don't know what more I can do to get this pattern, but is it worth all this fuss? If anyone else has this pattern saved, I'd like a copy of it, if possible.

I am looking forward to making this, but need to know how much yarn I need. Was it posted somewhere? The pattern doesn't say. The videos are very helpful, but I didn't hear it mentioned there either.

This is very pretty, would like to make this into a curtain!! Wouldn't it be lovely?

Ok, I am good at crochet, but lousy at calculating yarn required. I would love to make this as an afghan, so how much yarn do I need to order? Did I miss the info? Help!

Wow!!! I just love this pattern and can't wait to start it. I've been looking for something different and this is just perfect. Thanks, Judy

The pattern is back up! Thanks for your patience everyone! -Editors of AllFreeCrochet

nope. cant get in. the site says it has used up its monthly bandwiddth. I love the look of this one, please find a way to get it posted! thanks

I am not able to get the pattern either . .

This is a lovely pattern but there is no mention or the number of th larger squares are needed to complete the afghan.

I use the following website to figure out about how many squares are needed for whatever im making. I hope it helps.
