This square tutorial includes a link to a YouTube video that helps with a visual on how to create your own square like this. The colors used are awesome and the black yarn highlights them and really makes them pop. If using the supplies as shown this pattern will produce a six inch square.

Wow beautiful. Granny squares are very easy to make but such a pain having to sew them all together so I dont usually go the route of the granny square. This church window square looks like a stained glass window that you find in a lot of churches. I love it and might just have to make something with this.

This one takes a little bit longer to make because it is made in four parts before it is put together and the border added, but it is worth it. It has a nice stained glass effect if you use the right yarn colours. I think it may be nice in an afghan using a variety of colours as well. Has anyone tried doing that yet? The picture of my square was taken before it was blocked.

The pattern link will not open for me, & I see others are having the same problem. Too bad as it would have been a great summer project to work on & carry with you where ever you went. :(

Hi, We just checked the link and it worked just fine on our end. Perhaps check and see if there are any software updates available for your browser (or try a different browser), and restart your computer. I hope this helps, -editors of AllFreeCrochet

I am just finishing the 4 square by 6 square baby afghan I am making with this pattern. I worked my way through and was able to understand and follow the pattern I used the corrected version. I really like it. It is very pretty. Lena

Im not sure if im missing something in the pattern or not but in the picture it shows the bikini colors in the outer three corners of the mini squares but after making it mine didnt have anything in those spots. Am I missing a step in the pattern or something?

Started this over the weekend using 'Monet' rather than 'Bikini' and love it - very fond of blues and purples anyway. Will be absolutely stunning when stitched into a afghan.

I like the contrast between the black and the vibrant colors. It makes me think of the old Amish quilts.

I am drawn to the bright colors and the contrast of the black which gives this pattern its name of Framed Church Window like the stain glass windows you see in many churches. Regarding the Pattern Showdown I am drawn to this pattern much more than the pale pastels of the Beautiful Rose Twist which is the other pattern featured. I like the other pattern but would use a deeper rose color to contrast the pastel pink or use a varigated rose yarn. I just prefer more contrast.

Framed Church Windows is my favorite (& not because my husband is a Pastor!) The colors and design are what jumped out at me. Plus, it's not a pattern that gets boring! I like to have different stitches in patterns to keep me on my toes! :>)

While bvoth Afghans are very nice, the Stained Glass Church Window is my favorite. Why? The colors are devinely standout, (which everyone seems to say) but also the PATTERN is not only unusual, but rather unique. Just like me!

I really like the 'church windows', much better than the pink and white afghan. First, it gives one an oppertunity use up left over yarns and small amounts. And second this type of afghan almost everyone likes, with all it's colors it can be used anywhere.

I guess I would go for this one, Framed Church windows because of the bright colors. When I clicked on the other pattern, I could see it had color but not as bright.

This one is my favorite, hands down! Not only do I love the bright colors (they actually look like a stained glass window), but I think working with these colors would be more interesting than a two-color pattern. And the pattern itself looks more interesting.

Would love to take a look at this pattern, but when I click on "Click here for crochet pattern", it takes me to a web site that requires (from what I can tell) you to first, make a web page, then sign up for some trunk something or other website. Then after I did all that, I came back here to re-click on the patter link, and got a lovely pop-up stating "Authentication Required: The server www.freewebs.com:80 requires a username and password. The server says: Private Zone" I don't know what more I can do to get this pattern, but is it worth all this fuss? If anyone else has this pattern saved, I'd like a copy of it, if possible.
