Colorful Kaleidoscope Afghan
You know how to crochet a blanket when you can work up this beautiful Kaleidoscope Afghan in multiple crochet colors. The never-ending crochet design can play tricks on your eyes, but if you follow the crochet instructions, you'll quickly learn it's a beauty. The crocheted afghan is worked in rounds using the v-stitch to get the rectangular shape. The pattern is easier than it looks, so don't fret or get discouraged before even trying your hand at it. You can easily use a solid color throughout the pattern, but it would look even more stunning with different colors and shades.

I love it when color combinations come together, and this project is a perfect example. The stitches themselves are quite simple (primarily V stitches), and the designer offers some tips for the corners based on her own experience. If you want to use colors other than those indicated, play around with some skeins using a light/dark rotation until get the color combination you like (you can copy cake yarn colors, too).

I was drawn to this pattern just by the name. Give me plenty of colors and I am a happy girl. This is a great stash buster as well. The pattern is easy to follow and will work up quickly. I don't buy quilts from the department stores. I just layer all my homemade afghans and blankets. The colors are all over the place and that is fine by me. Thanks for another colorful pattern.

This is the perfect afghan to make for an adult or child. Since the pattern is detailed to make this afghan colorful, you can decide what the colors should be. This is the perfect pattern to use up some of your smaller portions of yarn.

Hi Princess... When I make an all-in-one-piece afghan, the weight of the project combined with how long I've been working on the project, makes for a looser tension. So, the last ten rows, are much looser than the beginning. That makes the edges 'ruffle'. I have to keep that in mind whenever I start a project like this. It's like when I knit a sweater--I always knit both sleeves at the same time and the two front pieces at the same time....nothing worse than different sized sleeves, or fronts. lol Hope that helps. L.

Every time I make a giant motif blanket, as I crochet and it gets bigger, for some reason the corners start to not lay flat and they start to get all lopsided. I don't know why this is? Does anyone have an answer for me? I was working on a granny square and decided to keep going and make it a lap blanket for the foot of my bed, and it doesn't lay flat anymore. I have to pull and twist it to get all four corners to be even. Drives me crazy!

This is such a fabulous pattern and my awesome friend, Heather, is going to do cartwheels of joy when I give her this afghan! Her favorite thing in life is COLOR and I have selected enough bright ones from my considerable yarn stash to satisfy the most ardent color addict, lol. Do not be daunted by the Intermediate rating of the pattern. I have tried a test piece and it is not very difficult at all and is very easy to get into.

Colorful Kaleidoscope Afghan is not a free pattern. This is merely an adaption from square to rectangle of a paid pattern which I do not have access to. I was very annoyed when I went for the pattern and there was no pattern to be found unless I purchase the one on Ravelry.

How do you download this pattern? The download button in the middle top of the screen only jams up my computer to the point of needing a reboot (and yes, I was dumb enough to do it multiple times! LOL) Any ideas? If that isn't the proper button, where the heck is it?
