Never have I worked with paracord. It is intriguing! A paracord keychain is a cool idea, but to me I don't see how such a small amount of cording is enough to be of substantial use for an emergency. But, I will take your word for it. Neat idea for a kid's birthday party, even as one of your planned activities. It seems like anyone could do this with just a little bit of instruction... how about printing out the step by step pics and place them on the table where the kids are working? Provide a variety of cording for them to choose from. I have seen it at Michaels.

The instructions for this baffled me a little, so I grabbed a hook and worked up a few inches. The designer provides plenty of photos, but I really dont understand the point of this particular stitch. It looks like three rows of knitting, side by side. Even though its not explicitly stated, the designer apparently wants you to make an I-Cord. Ill have to watch a few videos to see where Im going wrong.

Forgive my ignorance, but how is this used as survival gear? Thank you.

Paracord not para board is another name for parachute cord Typically it isn't used to crochet it's used to make survival bracelets which is similar to crocheting but it uses no hook and basically is a series of knots Paracord is very tough and durable so as to hold up the people using the parachutes The military makes and uses paracord for lots of things like canteen straps knife holders and gun holsters Whenever the soldiers need rope they just unravel their creations So when you crochet with paracord you can create something that is ultra-strong durable and can hold your weight I doubt you will be but if you're ever in a time of need like dangling off of a cliff you can save yourself with your stylish but handy crocheted survival gear If you enjoy crocheting you should try making survival bracelets Paraacord is sold in most military supply…Read More stores which are commonly found if you're interested Good luck

Oh, and I forgot to add.... In an emergency, you can use paracord for tourniquets, shoelaces, snares, tying splints, or, if you pull out the 7-strand core, (it looks like thick threads), you can even use it for fishing lines and sewing!
