"Instructions: this is a free crochet pattern 4 to 5 years boy. It is very simple pattern can easy adjust in many other sizes. First make a band crochet/knitting if you know about knitting. This is a knitting band my mother knit it, but I added a crochet band pattern for you. It is 60 stitches I picked up and starting my work. I added a (seed stitch) in this vest sweater. It is very easy stitch with a single crochet and double crochet stitches. After completing the front and bake part separately then sew the shoulder seems together and make the neck band with front post and back post stitches, then make the armhole to the same, after that sew the sides. I hope you like and enjoy the new idea to create in my mind."

. This pattern is listed for beginners, but that could be a bit misleading as it requires a knowledge of Front and Back Post Double Crochet, which is not usually something a beginner is familiar with. However, if you are a knitter, there is an option to make knitted rib bands. The techniques for Front and Back Post Double Crochet can be found on You Tube if you prefer to give it a try. It really does work up into a smart little vest.
