This sweater is manly enough, (depending on the colors and type of yarn used) for a man to wear. Are there any ways to adapt this pattern for a man?

I have a problem with the yarn requirments. I need the largest size and when I figure out how much yarn, it comes out to enough to make an afghan. Is this right? I can't imagine a sweater, even in my size needing that much yarn. Thanks in advance to anyone who helps me out!

Too manly for a lady. I would not wear this.

But Ivy, this is not for a man. It's called the boyfriend sweater, but that's just its name, its style. It's not for your boyfriend, it's a woman's sweater.

I never thought I would try to make a sweater - but I will now as it is bulky and will layer nicely over a turtleneck & not be to confining if needed for the extreme cold and will look nice with corduroy skirt or pants depending on the yarn used - this is the time to be creative with choice of yarn...Thanks Treva G McGain for sharing the pattern!!!!
