This shawl is the perfect crochet pattern for those who are just learning to crochet. Bulky weight yarn is used to complete this free crochet shawl pattern, making it a quick and easy pattern to work up. Fringe adds a nice decorative finishing touch, which is optional for this particular crochet design. Lavender colored yarn makes this a nice clothing choice for chilly summer nights. Shawls are one of the most versatile articles of clothing ever, so this stylish shawl is a must-do item for women.

I would be more helpful if you could give total amount of yards for yarn needed as they vary so very much esp. for this pattern since the rec'd yarn is no longer available. Thank you.

Looks like Caron Cozi yarn is discontinued. Will any 5 wt yarn work?

As you continue to crochet, or knit for that matter, you will get a good feel for whether the recommended gauge is crucial to a project -- or the final measurements of the pieces that make up a garment or an overall project. Gauge is also a good way to find comparable yarns if you wish to use a yarn different from the one called for in a pattern, for reasons of cost, availability of that yarn, the desire to use a yarn you have, etc. I do make square samples for checking gauge when I choose to check gauge and keep them for coasters or to assemble into table mats, or even afghans.

CAN YOU READ THE POST I SENT TO ANOTHER MEMBER ON THIS PAGE AND LET ME KNOW IF YOU CAN HELP ME?

Gauge is a way to make sure your project comes out like the pattern. You use the yarn and chrochet about 15-20 chains then make several rows. If the gauge is not correct then you use a different hook to get the right gauge.

HI, YOU SEEM TO KNOW ALOT ABOUT THIS. NOW I'M REALLY SURE HOW TO DO THIS, BUT I HAVE THIS BULKY SIZE 5 PATONS BOHEMIAN YARN AND I HAVE NEVER MADE A SHAWL BUT MY MOM WANTS ONE AND SHE REALLY LIKES THE YARN I HAVE (IF YOU HAVEN'T TRIED IT, I URGE YOU TO CHECK IT OUT! ITS BEAUTIFUL AND THE SOFTEST YARN I'VE EVER WORKED WITH) SO IF I WANTED TO DO THIS PATTERN AND I HAVE SIZE 5 BULKY YARN, DO YOU KNOW IF THE PATTERN WOULD CHANGE OR NUMBER OF STITCHES, AND IF YOU CAN DETERMINE THAT, WOULD YOU SHARE WITH ME MORE IN DEPTH HOW TO FIGURE IT OUT AND IF YOU KNOW WRITE ME UP A PATTERN FOR A BULKY TYPE ONE? I KNOW IT'S ASKING ALOT AND I'D BE HAPPY TO SEND YOU ONE OF THE HAIR SCRUNCHIES I'VE BEEN CREATING AND ACTUALLY MAKING A LOT OF MONEY ON SURPRISINGLY. I WOULD SEND YOU ONE OF THOSE FOR FREE AND YOU CAN KEEP IT OR REGIFT IT. I'M VERY PROFICIENT AT CROCHETING. I GENERALLY DO NOT HAVE MANY MISTAKES EVEN ON A FIRST TRY OF SOMETHING. I JUST DON'T KNOW HOW TO MODIFY A PATTERN IN THE WAY I'M ASKING YOUR HELP FOR. MY NAME IS NIKI FONTELLO. YOU CAN FIND ME ON FACEBOOK AND MESSAGE ME THERE AND I CAN GIVE YOU MY EMAIL IF YOU PREFER. I'M REALLY REALLY INTERESTED IN THIS AND I'D SINCERELY APPRECIATE YOUR HELP IF YOU KNOW HOW TO DO IT AND ARE WILLING. I JUST JOINED THIS SITE. I'VE BEEN USING CROCHETPATTERNCENTRAL.COM BUT THIS IS A MUCH BETTER APPEARANCE AND HAS PICTURES AND DOESN'T OPEN A WHOLE BUNCH OF WINDOWS TO BE ABLE TO VIEW THE PICTURE. SO I REALLY LIKE THIS SITE SO FAR. LET ME KNOW EITHER WAY BECAUSE MY MOM IS GETTING REALLY OLD AND I WANT TO MAKE SURE I GIVE HER HER GIFT BEFORE SOMETHING HAPPENS TO HER. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME, AND HELLO TO EVERYBODY ELSE!

Hi, Since I haven't crocheted in probably 30 something years I decided to try and do this beginner throw for my grand daughters for Christmas 2011 and was wondering why the pattern doesn't say turn at the end of each row. Is this supposed to be taken for granted or am I missing something? I want you to know that I love getting your email. Fran Galvin

can you explain how to read the gauge and how to use the gauge I have never made a gauge and I don't know how to read it
