I was really curious about how the checkerboard would play out in this rug. Would it be motifs or changing of the yarn? Well, in this case you will be making strips and changing the yarn. It should not be such a hard task. I love the two tone but I will not be using anything light in a floor covering in my house.

Tried this craft? What did you think?

I teach crochet at our local senior center, and noticed that a few of our regular checkerboards werent being used any more. I asked the director why, and she explained that some of our seniors were having trouble manipulating the pieces due to arthritis in their hands. So while I worked up the checkerboard rug, I had my students work on the simple black and red circles. Problem solved, and more than a few happy senior men!

This rug is so pretty. I love the checkerboard look.

Checkerboard. When I saw the title when surfing my first thought went to the game. This could easily be modified to the shape of the actual checker board and this could serve double duty as an oversized game board and a floor covering. Smart, right!?

No way this is beginner.
