This is such an awesome idea! I cant count the number of times I have thought it would be nice to have something like this when grabbing a hot pan handle from the stove. This would also be a great house warming gift, as part of a set, with a dishcloth and potholder.

These are excellent little items to have in the kitchen. In fact, you might want to keep several handy if you cook a lot. They are great at helping prevent burns in the kitchen. Always remember to make these with cotton yarn though because acrylic yarns will just transfer the heat and cause worse burns.

This would be a great addition to a gift set of pot holders. I usually have to dig out a bulky mitt to handle a hot pot handle, and this would be so handy! Make some up in a variety of sizes, but be sure to only use cotton yarn. Acrylic would be too slippery for this project. A very clever idea!

I have made these my self, but I did mine doing half double crochet stitches, not single crochet stitches. It make for a heaver handle for my cast iron pans. I see that the pattern has not been up-dated as eviemartin below stated, Row one is not complete, I think the writer thinks we should know to single crochet in each stitch across, chain 1 and turn. Other then that I see no problems. The cotton handle covers will wash up nicely. Thank you so much for sharing this free crochet pattern.

Row 1 has an error. It should say: sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch to end of row. Ch 1, turn. The way it is written does not make any sense to sc in 2nd ch and ch 1 and turn without finishing the row.
