Monkey see, monkey do! These adorable Moody Monkey Potholders features three different monkeys with different facial expressions. This is an easy crochet pattern to make for your kitchen. They would also make a great housewarming gift, as well. Use worsted weight yarn to complete this cute and useful kitchen accessory. Each potholder measures 5 12 inches in diameter when completed.

Beginner

Crochet HookH/8 or 5 mm hook

These monkey potholders are too cute! I cannot imagine using a potholder that is only 5 inches in diameter though. Does anyone have suggestions or making it larger? I will have to experiment and make it bigger. You could also make different facial expressions on them. There are so many different ones out there these days, it would be fun to make a whole bunch of different ones.

At 5 across, these would be awfully small for potholders. In addition, the work is only one layer thick and really needs to be doubled for the prescribed purpose. That said, it would be easy to increase the face and head by a row or two. I would also work the face and head as separate pieces and sew them together for the needed thickness. If you worked them with smaller hooks, they would make cute coasters, too.
