At first glance, this Magical Pillowghan doesn't look anything more than a crocheted pillow. But if you take a closer look, you'll discover the magic behind this free crochet pattern the blanket is actually folded up and turned into a pillow when not in use. Pretty neat, huh? This is a great gift idea for new homeowners or new neighbors, but be sure to make one for yourself too so you can enjoy the allure of this Magical Pillowghan.

I would love to make this item, but after three minutes of looking at the photos, I have a splitting headache. The stitch is not difficult, and the designer is very clear in explaining what to do; it's the beautiful background fabric that is giving me problems. You see, it has beautiful, somewhat ornate pattern, but when I am trying to concentrate on the close-up pics of the stitch, my eyes are being pulled in different directions by the fabric pattern! Please all designers: use a plain, colored background with contrasting yarn for pics and demonstrations. Eyes everywhere will be grateful!

This is truly a clever idea. Wish I had seen this about 4 afghans ago. May "retrofit" one of my existing lapghans with the pillow addition.
