How to Change Yarn

Changing yarn colors: If you are not comfortable carrying your working yarn between Rounds, then you can fasten off after each Zigzag Round and join your new color between the starting chain and the post of the first DC.

  1. To carry your working yarn, change colors when you slip stitch to join at the end of the Round: Insert your hook in the top of the starting chain, yarn over with Color B and pull through all loops on the hook.  Leave Color A hanging inside the hat and continue working around. When you get to the end, insert your hook in the top of the starting chain, yarn over with Color A and pull through all loops on the hook.

Made this hat for my granddaughters. They love them. Thanks for all you time and patience in designing them. It was so much fun

What a cute hat this Zigzag Earflap Crochet Hat is. I love the colors used and the pattern is very well written and easy to read and follow. I need to go by me some more yarn!! Yah!! I like that the pattern is here on this page and it is written for all head sizes, taking the guess work out of resizing for different ages and head sizes.. This hat will be great to prevent ear infections with the old wind here in Michigan. Love this!! Thank you so much for sharing this free crochet pattern.
