Purrfect Cat Ears Hat

If you are convinced your spirit animal is a cat, look no further than this Purrfect Cat Ears Hat, which uses metallic bulky yarn and triangle ears to bring life to our favorite feline friend. Cat outfits are one of the best and most convenient Halloween costumes every year, but drawing whiskers on your nose just won't set you apart. With this easy crochet beanie, your cat style will stand out, and you just have to find a black T-shirt, jeans, and a tail to complete the look. Let's be clear, though: this crochet hat pattern is so spunky that it doesn't just have to wait around until Halloween! It's subtle enough to draw in the compliments year round.

Easy

Crochet HookL/11 or 8 mm hook

Yarn Weight(6) Super Bulky/Super Chunky (4-11 stitches for 4 inches)

Materials List

  • Super Bulky Yarn – (Used here is Isaac Mizrahi Craft Carlyle Yarn in Roosevelt, just under one ball, 127 yards). Quick Note: This specific yarn is on the lighter side of the Super Bulky designation. If you use a thicker “super bulky” you may need to adjust your hook and adapt the pattern. Holding two pieces of worsted weight yarn together is a good substitute as well.
  • Size L (8.0 mm) Hook (adjust hook if needed to fit yarn)
  • Yarn needle

This cat ears hat pattern is definitely the purrfect gift for any cat lover in your life. I know my sister in law would wear a hat like this, and it will work up really quickly with the super chunky yarn! It looks like the yarn the author used had a sparkle to it, which only adds to the pattern!

Well, I don't know about you but I had the hardest time when my boys were young. They were forever loosing those stocking caps during the coldest days of winter. For boys, applying cat ears would not have been the answer but this would probably help your little girls keep up with that special hat.

Can you say easy pattern boys and girls? I thought this would be so difficult adding ears to the hat but this pattern is certainly not. For those charity drives, this would be a great project to make and donate. It requires just a little yarn and because of the simplicity of the pattern, you really could get a few of these made before the cold weather arrives.

This is such an easy pattern for a cat hat. The designer gives a few choices of yarn, or you could rummage through your own stash for something you like even better! The basic hat is just a crocheted tubethe real magic comes when you follow the photos and do a bit of sewing. I think I remember that metallic flecked yarn she found, too.

This is easy to make and kids will like this. You can do this in green, white, brown, mocha, gray, and any color appropriate for a cat.

Not a cat person, but a dog person big time. Nonetheless, this is a very cute hat and would make a great topper or accessory for a Halloween costume or a cat costume for a dress up party. Love the glitter yarn. I think the younger girls could pull this off as an everyday hat with a tshirt and pair of jeans.

This is so simple and quick. It is a great project when you need to make up a bunch of items in a hurry. I made mine with Red Heart Reflective so it could be seen when out walking in the dark. I will be making more of them soon.
