Tiny Scallops Easy Newborn Cap and Booties Set

"For a unique baby shower gift, try this simple cap and booties layette set by St. Clement's Daughter (stclementsdaughter.com). The cap takes me about an hour and a half to make, and the booties take about an hour. Because the patterns are quick and easy, it’s a great last-minute project for a newborn or preemie. Try different colors from traditional pink and blue, such as the Soft Red and Aqua here, for a change!"

I am going to make this pattern with DK yarn. I am trying to use up my yarn, and I just found out my church will be making baby things for donation next month.

These are very easy, inexpensive and yet cute. Like the previous poster said, you can dress them up nicely too. But I will keep mine on the plain side and donate them to the hospital and birthing centers. They really appreciate it. And later when the baby goes home the parents can add some decorations if they like.

This is a nice set for new or expectant parents. I like that both patterns match each other, but do think they are rather plain. It would be very easy to add embellishments like flowers and ribbons for girls, and since the crocheted fabric is so solid, it wouldnt be any trouble to sew on some appliqus for boys, Ive added this pattern set to my collection for those very reasons.
