Seahorse Teether

search

"This sweet seahorse teether is a cuddly new friend for your baby, with a teething ring wrapped up in its tail. You can also make it as a stuffed toy, without the teething ring. It’s made in Red Heart Baby Hugs yarn, which is certified as having been tested to be free from harmful levels of over 300 substances! It works up really quickly. The body is worked all in one piece, and the fin is worked separately and sewn on."

Intermediate

Crochet HookH/8 or 5 mm hook

Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

Crochet Gauge16 sc x 18 rows = 4 inches. Exact gauge is not critical. It’s best to use the smallest hook you are comfortable with for the medium yarn. Your stitches should be a bit tight, so the stuffing doesn’t come out.

Finished SizeAbout 8 inches long when complete, not counting teething ring. Size will vary depending on your gauge and finishing (how tightly you curl the tail, etc).

This Seahorse Teether is such a great idea and would make a great gift for any child who is teething. I think it will also look great as a key chain, with this on your keys you won't loose your keys as often. The written pattern reads well and is easy to follow, so this should work out great! I'm looking forward to making this one.. Thank you so much for sharing this free crochet pattern.

All the current grandchildren are past the teething stage, but Im still going to work up this gorgeous little seahorse as a separate amigurumi project. The pattern is rated Intermediate because its a little complex, but nothing that a fairly experienced novice couldnt handle. Theres no video, but the designer does provide plenty of photos to show the construction details.
