I need an infant girl's christening dress

this part of the pattern is very confusing, it says to work over the shells, but it doesn't tell you what stitch to use. Could you please explain this to me. I have copied this part of the pattern and attached this thank you Angela Next row hello Skip 3 shells for underarm, attach thread and work across 10 shells, ch 1, turn. Work back and forth over the 10 shells for 3 12 inches, cut thread. Attach thread at base of back opening, work over 10 shells (3 shells remain for underarm). Complete this side to correspond, cut thread.
