How to Crochet the Primrose Stitch

Instructions for the Primrose Stitch

  1. Start with a chain that is a multiple of three plus two (i.e. 11).

  2. Single crochet into the third stitch.

  3. Chain two, and single crochet back into the same stitch.

  4. Repeat the process (i.e. skip two chains, single crochet, chain two, and single crochet back into the same stitch.)

  5. When you come to your last two stitches, skip over one stitch and half double crochet into your last stitch.

  6. Turn your work and chain three.

  7. Now you will do three double crochet stitches into the chain two space you previously created.

  8. Repeat this through the rest of your chain two spaces.

  9. Make a half double crochet in the chain two at the top of the second chain.

  10. Turn your work and chain two.

  11. Skip the first and single crochet, chain two, and single crochet in the same stitch.

  12. Repeat this process until you get to the last stitch.

  13. Do a half double crochet into the top stitch on your double.

  14. Repeat steps 6 through 13 until you have finished your work.
