Its funny seeing a tote that is titled Autumn Day to appear as a pattern of the day right at the beginning of Spring. I dont really see this as an Autumn Day tote, but I guess that is all in the magic of what color scheme that you choose to make it out of. This could also be a winter, spring, summer day tote.

When you think Granny Square, this densely worked version isnt what usually comes to mind. This is a bag meant to do a days work and the solid color really emphasizes the bags strength. In addition to the written text, the designer includes an excellent diagram showing how to lay out the squares before sewing them together. Did I mention theres also a two part instructional video?

This bag is very smart looking. SO nice in classic navy, however, I can see it in a deep garnet as well. Try a combo in a mix of black squares and heathered gray squares, too! I still cannot believe that a bag such as this is made by a specific arrangement of squares. The handles are by far the best I have seen. LOVE -)

I always carry around a big purse, I have tried smaller ones but usually just continue adding things until the purse either overflows or falls apart. This pattern looks like it could do double duty big enough to put things in but not so big that I make it too heavy to carry.

I love this bag. I want to make it with all the supplies listed, except for the handle. The first thing I noticed about this bag was that the handles did not match the look and feel of the bag. I would rather have handles made from the same yarn that the bag is made from. The pattern is also very user friendly.

I am already in love with this pattern. I love bags, and this one is so elegant looking! I can't believe I haven't seen this pattern before. I think I am going to take a break from the afghan I started this morning, and work on this. I have the perfect yarn to turn this Autumn tote into a Spring tote! You could have one for every season! (Yes, I do that with a lot of bag patterns. I like having options!)

This granny square tote bag looks like something you'd see in a high end shop. It would be so much fun to shop for some fun yarn to make this bag. It would look great as it is shown here or even with a variegated yarn. You don't need to add a lining to the bag for it to be functional, but the lining would add more support. You could even get more creative and pick something fun for the fabric lining the bag as well. What colour combinations would you choose?
