Now this coffee cup cozy was given as teacher gifts for my son to hand out last year. I was able to use up all my stash here at home, and I had previously gone to the craft store and bought a bag of random sized/colored buttons to have on hand. So, I just made each cozy different so that each teacher would have something a little unique. I had a lot of fun making these.

I agree completely with the other post. Very easy pattern to follow even for a beginner. It builds so much confidence when you can finish a project. My only comment is not to forget a cozy works just as well on a cold cup. My grandkids always say their cold juices from a take out store are too cold to hold. This is perfect for that also. I always carry extras in my car!

This is a perfect beginner pattern. It teaches fundamentals of crochet and is repetitive enough to strengthen a young hooker's confidence. But my favorite part?? Easily customizable! All you would need to do is make a small rectangle of the same pattern and whipstitch or mattress stitch three sides onto the cozy and voila! Now you'll have a pocket for sugar packets, change, or cards.
