http//www.redheart.com/free-patterns/warm-shine-sc == arf-headband this is the original pattern, 3-hdc cluster (cl) = Yo, insert hook in space, yo, draw yarn through st 3 times in same space, yo, draw yarn through 7 loops on hook. Foundation single crochet (fsc) = First St Ch 2, insert hook under top 2 strands of first ch, yo, draw up a loop, yo, draw through 1 loop, yo, draw through both loops (first fsc complete). Remaining sts Insert hook under both loops of previous st, yo, draw up a loop, yo, draw through 1 loop, yo, draw through both loops. NOTE Chain 2 counts as hdc throughout. cl usually means cluster stitch, although I don't see this explained in the pattern. Here's the website where it DOES define the cluster stitch http//www.redheart.com/free-patterns/warm-shine-sc == arf-headband Yarn is discontinued, too, I see. Oh well, there's plenty others out there to use!

what does the cl mean

I was wondering if you can just chain the 20 and then sc instead of doing the fsc. I don't seem to get the fsc stitch. Anyone that can answer this will be a great help. Thanks

Realize it's probably too late, but you CAN, if you want...chain 21. Then SC the next row. Chain 3 then continue with the HDC of the following row. OR Begin with a Chain 24, then start with the HDC row in the 4th chain from hook. (I think that's right -- or Chain 23, and start the HDC row in the 3rd chain from hook.) Ugh. Hope that helps a little!

what's a "cl", do not see in instructions - looks cute though

What does the cl stand for?

http//www.redheart.com/files/patterns/pdf/LW2848co == rr.pdf

I went to the Red Heart site pattern index and found a .pdf of the corrected patter LW2848. http//www.redheart.com/files/patterns/pdf/LW2848co == rr.pdf

Have you tried this craft? What did you think?

what does cl mean in instructions

What does cl mean in row one of instructions? cluster??

This is confusing. I have been crocheting for a while and cannot figure out what this is supposed to look like. I can look at the picture but it does NOT look what I get when I have finished up to the 2nd row. Is there anywhere else that I can find help with this?

I do love this yarn though.....can anyone tell me what it is! THX

I agree...this doesn't look like a superfine yarn....I'm trying a cotton. AND thx for the info about "cl"

Do you have this in a printer friendly version without all the comments at the end? Thank you

On the Red Heart Website it is called Warm and Shine Headband and Scarf. Here is the link to the pattern: http://www.redheart.com/files/patterns/pdf/LW2848_0.pdf Hope it helps you understand the pattern a little better.

Thx so much cause I was trying to think, what the heck is a "cl"..??? I printed out the patter, looks beautiful.

I think that I get very confused with the fsc and would like to have the pattern start with a chain which is what I'm used to.

I've been crocheting for over 50 years and I don't know what a "cl" is! Can't find out on this web-site either! Help...please!

Cl means "cluster". Usually made two dc, 2 chains, two dc. They name cluster the set of two duble crochet stitches. O hope this heped.

It says at the top that you use 1 or superfine yarn...I'm sorry but in the picture this just does not look like superfine to me...anyone tried this yet?

I've found the Red Heart patterns tend to have errors in them...thus the failure to explain the cluster stitch. I haven't done this yet, but I'll check their website to see if a corrected pattern has been published. Otherwise I agree that it looks like a popcorn-type cluster. What a cute pattern!

here is is-from the Red Heart website's version of the pattern: 3-hdc cluster (cl) = [Yo, insert hook in space, yo, draw yarn through st] 3 times in same space, yo, draw yarn through 6 loops on hook.

I don't know what "cl" is either, so won't try this one until I know.

This is the cluster instruction from the headband and matching scarf's Red Heart pattern on the website: 3-hdc cluster (cl) = [Yo, insert hook in space, yo, draw yarn through st] 3 times in same space, yo, draw yarn through 6 loops on hook.

This is pretty and clever! I do have one question: with the detail on the abbreviations for all the usual stitches, did the "cl" directions get lost? If I had to guess, I would do a popcorn type cluster, but I cannot tell from the photo is that is the stitch called for. Member 0268230 said "so easy to follow" Can you help me with this?

Suggested hook 4.5 mm or 4.25 mm ?

love the pattern , so easy to follow
