Lovely pattern for a butterfly. I have been making butterflies this same way for 25 - 30 years. It's so simple. The bigger the thread/yarn, the bigger the butterfly. Thanks for sharing!

Goldi PA Feb. 10, 2013 I love the pattern, but have a few questions. If using embroidery floss, how many strands do you use - 3 or 6 or what? Also, may crochet cotton size 5 or 10 be used instead? I want to make these for my nieces and granddaughter. Thank you.
