German Pickle Ornament

"The story goes like this: When Santa visits he always leaves behind a pickle (yes, like a dill pickle) hidden among the branches of the Christmas tree for the kids to find on Christmas morning. There is a special pickle present from the big guy himself for the pickle-finder, usually in the form of candy or cookies. It is also said that whoever finds the pickle has good luck for the year ahead! This easy beginner friendly pickle christmas ornament is so simple to make! It consists of simple stitches and is so much fun for the holiday season - great for adding to a tree or decorating a present! This is an easy level crochet pattern, and the techniques you will need to know are single crochet, increases and decreases, bobble stitch, chain stitch, magic ring, and slip stitch. You will also need to know how to sew pieces together and work in the round."

Crochet HookC/2 or 2.75 mm hook

Our family has some German ancestry, but it wasnt until my Army brother married his own German sweetheart that she introduced us to this tradition. Now I always keep a pickle ornament on our tree, and thanks to this clever little project, Ill be working one up for each of my adult childrens families, too. Thanks so much for posting this!
