Polar Bear Baby Hat

search

No need to travel to the arctic (or the zoo) to visit the polar bears. Crochet your very own polar bear with this super cute crochet baby hat. Two different white yarns are needed to work up this crocheted hat one skein of white worsted weight yarn and one skein of furry white yarn for the inside of the hat. Black buttons are used for the eyes (which are sewn on at the end), and the nose is stuffed with a small amount of stuffing. Earflaps add an extra touch of warmth, which kids will appreciate during the cold winter months. This free crochet hat pattern is written to fit babies ages 6 to 12 months, but can easily be adjusted for other ages.

This is one of the cutest baby / youth hats that I have seen in a while. The extensions for ties will help keep it in place when needed and would be the perfect way to allow the hat to be taken off and still loosely tired around the neck.

The furry yarn around the edges and for the ties is what I call attention to detail. There is no reason that your little bear could not be any other color as well. I love the white but I call my little person Messy Menalnie under my breath for a reason.

This cuddly hat has a charm all its own. The linked pattern is only for sizes 6 to 12 months, but as the designer frequently suggests, the other sizes as well as templates and other assists, are available for purchase. The snout is cute, but I will swap the felt nose for either fleece or crochet. I love the furry trim around the edges and tassels!
