I just love this granny square bag. I think with the addition of a few more rows of squares this would turn out great as a messenger type bag. With school starting now, this would be a great alternative bag for my step daughter.

I am a lover of granny square patterns and I never tire of looking at them and reading all of the directions. I would love to be creative enough to create a project on my own but my brain just does not work that way. That is why I continue to read/study and hope to get some inspiration to create my very own design. I am always impressed with what people come up with from simple to complex and then share with the rest of us. Thanks again.

This is the Granny Square bag in its simplest form. The squares are attached to each other in the basic manner, so there are no tricky angles to deal with. The bottom and side gussets continue up to form the shoulder strap, too. The smaller rectangle that serves as a front flap can also be fastened using a toggle button attached to the front itself. No need for a button hole.

I really like all the extensive pictures that are provided in this particular pattern. It helps so much! I notice that the strap is actually all in one long strip which wraps all the way around the sides and bottom of the bag. It makes the depth for the bag. It is like it is gusseted, like a pillow. so retro and girly!

What a cute idea. I love granny squares and to be able to make them into a purse in my favorite colors is just great. There is nothing easier than a granny square. I have made many of them. The only difference is that I always line my purses. Thank you for sharing this.

This is a WIP for me. I saw this pattern and had the perfect yarn to start it. My projects are done in my spare time so I am not quite finished with it yet. Also if you want to make it a bigger size it would be easy to do. I like this pattern because it is easy to follow and there is a good tutorial on how to sew the squares together. I also like the lining idea to put inside. What kind of fabric would you use? Any suggestions?

Really like this pattern, colors and all. Would like to make the handle as substantial as possible so probably will use a stitch for potholders. Not sure about the size but surely it can easily be made bigger. Pattern suggests lining and that would make it look very professional.
